On April 8th, our community partners came together to support administering 120 vaccinations for individuals and partners currently staying within the County of Lambton’s emergency shelter system. A big thank you to The Sunbridge Hotel and Conference Centre which has been an amazing partner throughout this pandemic. The City of Sarnia which offered to provide the buses through Sarnia Transit required to transport the individuals from the various emergency shelters to the clinic at no cost. The North Lambton Community Health Centre which supplied a Nurse Practitioner to assist with the completion of the consent form and answering medical related questions from Individuals in attendance. Volunteers from the Inn of the Good Shepherd which put together “wellness kits” for the individuals attending which included some basic needs, food items as well as information to assist them in securing housing etc. To our partners at the Canadian Mental Health Association for their continued support through these difficult times. And to staff from the County of Lambton’s Social Services Division which assisted the clinic in partnership with the Inn of the Good Shepard.
“Receiving the vaccine will assist them in being able to leave the shelter and seek accommodations safely. It has been wonderful to watch the various community partners come together with Public Health to support this population.”
