Point Edward, ON – Lambton Public Health seeks your input to help shape the Lambton County Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy. It starts by sharing one idea.
“You probably know someone who’s been impacted by drugs or alcohol – maybe a classmate, colleague, loved one, or even you,” says Ellie Fraser, Mental Health and Addictions Program Coordinator for Lambton Public Health. “What one thing would make the biggest difference to improve the situation for that person or our community regarding drug and alcohol misuse?”
You can make a difference. Share Your Voice to help shape the Strategy and reduce the harms of drug and alcohol misuse, and work to build a flourishing community. The survey includes a second optional phase that allows participants to prioritize community activities.
Strategy development is a collaborative effort involving the community and nearly 20 stakeholders that support people who use drugs and alcohol. Stakeholders have established goals to:
- Reduce demand for drugs and alcohol
- Create a more responsible supply of drugs and alcohol
- Reduce harms from drugs and alcohol while supporting people in recovery
“While these are important pieces to address a complex issue, they need to be uniquely responsive to Lambton County,” says Michael Gorgey, Manager of Health Promotion for Lambton Public Health. “We’ve heard from many different groups: people who use drugs and alcohol, their loved ones, mental health and substance use service providers, and municipal leaders, but, we need the public’s help to understand what would provide the greatest impact in Lambton so we can make change.”
