Province expands eligibility for 2nd COVID-19 booster dose

Point Edward, ON – Starting Thursday, July 14, the Province of Ontario will expand eligibility for a second booster of COVID-19 vaccine to additional populations.

Eligibility will be expanded to the following groups:

  • Individuals aged 18+ at a recommended interval of 140 days (5 months) after a first booster dose of Health Canada authorized COVID-19 vaccines.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario, Dr. Kieran Moore, encourages Ontarians to speak with their health care provider about whether getting a second booster dose now is right for them.

Beginning at 8:00am on Thursday, July 14, appointments can be booked online through Lambton Public Health (LPH) at GetTheVaccine.ca. If you require assistance with booking, please contact us at 226-254-8222. Call Centre Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Call Centre and vaccination clinic capacity has been scaled up in anticipation of high demand. Please remain patient when attempting to book an appointment.

Other COVID-19 vaccination options include participating pharmacies and select primary care providers for all eligible individuals.

Masks are still required in clinical settings. If you can, please continue to mask where required. Please remain home if you are sick and rebook your appointment for a later date. Additional information regarding booster dose eligibility can be found on our website. Vaccines remain the best way to prevent severe COVID-19 outcomes and reduce the strain on our healthcare system.

In Lambton County, approximately 55% of individuals eligible for a first booster have received it.  All eligible residents are encouraged to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations doses. As with vaccines for other diseases, you are protected best when you follow the recommended schedule.
