Children’s Dental Screening

Lambton Public Health provides dental screening services to identify oral health concerns and connect children and families with appropriate dental care supports.

Dental screening is offered to students in:

  • Junior Kindergarten (JK)
  • Senior Kindergarten (SK)
  • Grade 2

Additional grades may be included based on screening results.

Before the Screening

Lambton Public Health will:

  • Contact the school to schedule a dental screening visit
  • Provide instructions to support school preparation and screening requirements
  • Share parent/guardian notification materials, including information about the screening and consent process

During the Screening

Eligible students will receive a brief visual oral health screening conducted by Lambton Public Health staff.

After the Screening

  • Students will receive information to take home outlining their screening results
  • Families of children requiring follow-up will be provided with information and resources to support access to dental care
  • Oral Health Teaching Toolkits will be available for JK, SK & Gr. 2 classrooms

Dental screening helps identify children who may benefit from further assessment but does not replace regular dental visits.
