Ticks and Tick Bite Prevention

Lambton Public Health (LPH) supports schools by providing information, guidance, and resources that promote health and safety in the school and community environment.

If a Student Is Bitten by a Tick

  1. Refer to the LPH Lyme Disease webpage for instructions on tick removal
  2. Remove the tick as soon as possible
  3. Place the tick in a small, sealed plastic bag or container
  4. Contact LPH for identification and guidance

Additional information about tick removal is available through the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Educators can contact the LPH School Health Team for resources to support elementary grades on tick awareness and tick bite prevention.
