Vision Health for Education Professionals

Children’s Vision Health and Resources

Good vision plays an important role in a child’s learning, development, and overall well-being. Lambton Public Health can help schools and families access information about children’s vision health and available vision care resources.

Vision Care for Children and Youth

Regular eye examinations help identify vision concerns that may affect learning, development, and daily activities.

Annual eye examinations are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for children and youth 19 years of age and younger.

If there are concerns about a child’s vision, families are encouraged to book an eye examination with an optometrist.

Resources

Eye See…Eye Learn®

The Eye See…Eye Learn® program, offered by the Ontario Association of Optometrists, provides one free pair of glasses, if needed, to eligible Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten students following a comprehensive eye examination.

Additional information about children’s vision health and available funding programs can be obtained through Lambton Public Health.
