Lambton Public Health’s dental clinic provides support and assistance to those residents in need of dental care through assessment and referral to one of the dental financial assistance programs
Dental Programs for Children
Healthy Smiles Program (Children 17 years and under)
The Healthy Smiles Program is a dental program that offers free dental care to children 17 years and under. The program is designed for lower-income families in need of support. If your patient is in need of dental care and believes they may be eligible, encourage them to apply online or call 519-383-8331 ext. 3531 to speak to a member of our dental team.
Canada Dental Benefit (Children under 12)
The interim Canada Dental Benefit is a federal program not associated with local public health units. It is intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents and guardians may be eligible if they pay for dental care for a child under 12 years old who does not have access to a private dental insurance plan.
Dental Programs for Adults 65+
The Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program is a government-funded dental care program. It provides free, routine dental services for eligible low-income seniors.
Who is Eligible?
• Seniors 65 and older
• Residents of Ontario
• Have no access to other dental benefits.
• Have an annual net income of $22,200 or less for a single senior or a combined annual net income of $37,100 or less for a couple
How to Apply:
Patients have the option to apply to the program online, submit the application form by mail, or drop into our Point Edward office during standard business hours, for assistance completing a physical application.

To refer your patient under 17 for an oral health assessment by Public Health, complete the Family Health Referral Form.
